My husband and I love to travel so we thought travel nursing would be a way for us to travel some and make some extra money so we could save to build a house. I have been checking with a few different companies and so far I am not impressed. I have not given any of them permission yet to submit my app to hospitals because I don't like the "offers" so far. The "best" offer so far is for Labor and Delivery, 3 12's for $26/hr. This includes a 1 bedroom apartment, but not linens, tv, dishes, I would have to bring all of that. If I did not take the insurance it would be $27.75/hr but I need insurance. The only reason I am even slightly considering this position is that it is only about 6 hours away from my home and I could still work PRN an the hospital I work at now (for $30/hr.) Even other locations seem to only pay about $28/hr. Am I missing something?

hello disappointed,
have you checked into the tax advantage program? you would definitely qualify for the program if you are maintaining a mortgage at least 50 miles away from the facility you are signing on with. not every agency offers the tax advantage program upfront so please check that out carefully. it usually results in about 200-225 dollars extra take home a week. this might offset the difference for you enough to allow you the ability to travel and save a little money. take care and let me know if you have any more questions. ann
