I have committed to a Direct Entry MSN program (generalist) for this fall. However, the idea of getting my ADN is pretty tempting from a financial standpoint. My ultimate goal is to become a CNM, however, I know I may change my mind on this once I start nursing.
I already have my Bachelors and an MSW (and student loans).
I’ve weighed finances of ADN, RN-MSN, CNM cert vs DE MSN and CNM cert and it looks overwhelmingly cheaper to take the ADN route, albeit it will probably take longer.
An ABSN is something I’ve considered, however, it would be incredibly difficult to pull off considering my undergraduate student loan situation.
ADN Pros: cheaper, more experience as I move through programs
ADN Cons: longer, may be tricky to find best fit programs for MSN/CNM (especially without BSN)
Direct Entry MSN Pros: faster, less programs to go through/apply to
Direct Entry MSN Cons: expensive
What other considerations should I be making?
