DipHE nursing

Hi everyone

I'm going through clearing for DipHE Child Nursing for London Southbank Uni. I left school last year with 6 GCSE's and since then I've just been working at a nursery.

I know Uni's prefer Health and social care but has anyone been accepted with these minimum req's? Do u think I've got any chance of getting in??

2nd prob: I originally applied for midwifery, so all my personal statement was about midwifery.

Have I totally messed up any chances of getting in?

Plz give me some advice. Thanks!!!!!

I cant speak for the uni you have applied for,but a long as you meet the minimal requirements for Nurse Training they should consider your application, with 6 GCSE you meet that.

However it will depend on the qualification of the other applicants, with limited places and many appyling you will have to wait and see.

The work you are doing in the nursery will be a great asset it shows your committment to your chosen field. I personally think this is more valuble that the qualifications ( but not all tutors share my view).

Regarding your second prob, I dont think I can help, all I can share if you get a interview be clear why you have switched fields and convince the people interviewing you child nursing is what you want.

Keep the board posted on your progress and as this was your first post welcome to allnurses

I also went to South Bank Uni for my Dip HE (paediatric nursing). It sounds like you meet the entry standards. If you are worried give SBU a call, ask to speak to the pre-reg course facilitator - they will be only to happy to talk to you. Good luck at South Bank.

Thanks so much for ur welcome and all ur advice!!!

If I'm not successful this time around I will apply again for the January-March intakes. Do you think taking an AS Human Biology would give me a better chance?

Thanks again

If you aren't sucessful then I am sure an AS couldn't hurt, adn they like to see evidence of recent study.

Good luck for this intake and let us know how you get on.
