78,000 for dialysis nurses

Wait a minute! Is this true? I did a search on a salary site and it said the median salary for a dialysis nurse in brooklyn, ny was 78000 thats hard to believe. Regulr nurses make like 72,000. I have two interviews next week. One with Davita and another with a local dialysis center. I have no dialysis experience but i've been a nurse for 6 years. I love nursing but I need a change.

Hello, I read your post and I too am interested in dialysis nursing although I only have about 3 month of med/surg. I am doing cardiac and I hate it and I want to do something else--did you find that job and which agency did you use to get it? I too live in NY and whatever info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hey silvermist. I interviewed for one of the jobs for dialysis and they offered me 60,000 since I didn't have "dialysis experience". Thats crazy. I love nursing but I have to eat...lol. In speaking with the manager, it seemed as if the environment was nurse against tech. I did't bother to go to the other interview. I'm trying to find something new and easier on my back. Sorry to hear you hate cardiac. I love cardiac. Just can't do it right now because I hurt my back. I'm looking into home health and case management at this time. I'm with several agencies but White Glove has a lot of contracts here in DC. You have to have at least a year exp. Just look on job sites they have dialysis listed all the time. Do you work in the city?
