what is definition for...?

Hi. i need your advice again. it is a caregiver working for a certain family, she may be from another country, so she lives with the family. Her resposibility is that of a caregiver, or a nurse in a hospital. She should have certain degree of professional knowledge and skills as a nurse. Is there any defifinition for this person. Maybe she is a home caregiver or something like that? I want a definition in terms of profession.

Usually what you are describing would be called a "caregiver." They are usually not a nurse by having completed a program in a nursing school, but they should know what to do in an emergency.............know the name of the person's physician and how to contact them........how to use the phone system and call for an ambulance in an emergency. Know all of the medications that the person is taking.........etc.

Finger sweep means using your fingers to remove the foreign object from the mouth. You may hear the expression "blind sweep" which means just putting your fingers in and see if you feel anything.

The Heimlich maneuver is done to help someone who is choking. You will see pictures of it in any of our CPR books. Let me know if you have any more questions....................

I am very grateful to you for your help. You see, i am in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. It is not as big a city as Shanghai. No English nursing books can be found here, let alone the CPR book you mentioned. That's why i have so many questions to ask. I have asked some friends abroad to get some for me.
