Deciding whether to change specialties

Due to my husbands career needs, we will be moving out of state in June or July of 2011. I have spent two and a half years of nursing in my current position on a cardiac medicine step-down unit and have obtained Progressive Care Certification. We'll be relocating to a metropolitan area similar in size to where we are living now with a few different hospitals but I have my heart set on a large university associated hospital and want to increase my marketability. I enjoy my current position and don't really want to leave it but I have the opportunity to transfer to an intensive care unit or emergency department.

However, given the time frame that I am working with regarding my relocation, I am uncertain if a change in specialty would be advantageous at this point. While gaining experience in another area of nursing would certainly be an enhancement to my career, I am uncertain if having less than a year in said specialty would be attractive to a potential employer. What would you recommend? Should I transition to another area to pick up a different skill set even though I would be leaving after less than one year or should I stay in my current position and work toward obtaining other certifications (Cardiac Medicine sub specialty certification/ACLS instructor, etc) to increase my attractiveness to the hospitals? Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice!
