Deciding Between ABSN Programs: Mt St Vincent (CMSV) and Manhattanville College

Hi all,

Im interested in ABSN Programs. im in the middle of applying to college of mt st vincent (CMSV) and manhattanville college. CMSV is pricier than Manhattanville, and im assuming its because of their hospital affiliations? Can anyone provide any useful, detailed insight on both programs...

Hey! I know this is a late response. However, I am still going to try to address your post.

I am from NYC and I researched those schools as well for my ABSN which I attempted several years ago. Here are some questions I want you to consider:

1. Are those schools close to your residence?

2. Is the cost of the program an issue?

3. Why ABSN? Can you do ASN or traditional BSN pathway?

4. Did you consider CUNY schools, like Lehman and Hunter? Both of those schools have strong nursing programs, including ABSN. I attended ABSN at Lehman and it was 12 months of very rigorous coursework. Also, both schools have affiliations with multiple nationally-recognized hospitals, like VA, Bellevue, Jacobi etc.

I hope this helps!

As long as accredited it makes zero difference.   I would go cheapest way possible because you will be working hard to pay it back. I was an Army RN and the minimum requirement is a BSN.  That is it.  I worked with nurses who went to Rutgers, Georgetown, U of Nebraska, etc.  No one cares.   Made zero difference for promotions.  What mattered was how hard I worked, how I was at leadership, and how I treated others.  That was it.  Good luck!
