Darton College Fall 2011

Anyone apply to Fall 2011 nursing program? If so, what are your GPA's looking like, have you finished all your pre-reqs, and have you taken the HESI test yet?

Hi kirstie...I applied for Fall and I'm taking the HESI soon. So far, my gpa is about 3.8, all glory to GOD b/c It has been tough. If I make it in the program, I will have all the core done. From what I've been told, those are the 2 things they look at most. But then again, I have heard of several people who had high gpa, great HESI score, and all core done, and were still denied...so who knows?

I applied for this fall. I'm taking my HESI May 7 :uhoh3:. I'm taking Micro Hybrid this Summer, but I've finished all the other prereqs. I have a 4.0 right now. Good luck Kirstie & Doodle!

Hey guys, I'm sorry for the late response...IDK why it didn't notify me that I had new posts to this thread. So what were yalls scores on the HESI? I just took mine today and scored a composite of 88% (84% on A&P)...but my GPA reset because I'm a transfer student...if they are going off of my previous school, I have a 3.2 GPA...I'm nervous and scared all at the same time!

So what were yalls scores on the HESI? I

Congrats! I scored a 92% composite with an 88% on the A&P. July is a long way away. Are you taking any classes this summer?

I scored an 84% overall and have a transfer GPA of 3.0 (I dont know if they go off of my transfer GPA or what they actually accepted)! I did good on everything but A&P, I scored 72 =( Luckily I completed all my pre-reqs, so hopefully that can make up for a low A&P score. Anywho...the wait is going to KILL me! Good luck to all =)

Wow! That is just great! I am trying to take medical terminology this summer because I haven't taken that yet, but we'll see how finances are! I just moved here from Texas because my husband is military so I probably won't have financial aid until the Fall. But I'm crossing my fingers! Good luck to you though, you did great!

Welcome to GA! You did great, too! I'm sure you'll have a seat for fall. I understand about the financial aid. With all the new cuts to Hope and Pell I'm a little nervous. I may end up having to get a loan. I'm taking Microbiology and a health class this summer. Good luck to you, too!

I have no idea what all they go by. From what I've read and heard it varies each semester and which program you've applied to which changes your competition. Ugh, July feels so far away! Good luck! :)

So what all classes do you have to take for core? I need to take A&PII which I plan to do in the fall and Micro as well. That's another reason why I think they might not accept me...but who knows. Just gotta wait til July gets here! I kinda hope they send out the letters a little earlier!!!

http://www.darton.edu/programs/nursing/pdfs/201102-Nursing.pdf That's a list of the core. They say there are 3-5 classes that they look at when you're applying: English 1101, A&P I, and Medical Terminology. I'm guessing the other two are English 1102 and A&P II. The more you have done, the better. If I'm not mistaken A&P II is a prereq to Microbiology.

Yea I spoke to the Nursing Advisor and she said that Medical Terminology isn't required to get in, but recommended. So after Micro are you done with all of your core classes? I hope A&PII isn't a prereq! At my school I transferred from, you can take Micro as a coreq with A&P I. So I'm hoping I can take both this fall!

Yeah, Micro is all I have left. I just took A&P II last semester. Hopefully they'll let you take both. I'll cross my fingers for you :)
