CSULB Fall 2014

Hey everyone!

Did anyone else apply to CSULB for Fall 2014? The school app was due last Saturday, and then we have the month of January to submit for the School of Nursing.

Based on previous threads, it looks like we are invited to an interview about a month after the deadline, and the cutoff was ~9.1 points.

Here are my stats so we can see how we stand this year!

Science GPA: 3.58

GE GPA: 3.77

TEAS: 97.3

TEAS Math: 100

I think that works out to about 9.4 points... the average keeps rising each year, so it would be nice to see where we all fall!

Good luck everyone :)

Ya, but to give a C as a grade to someone that has a 4.0? Ive never even haf a B...

i went from a near unbeatable score at 9.62 to a score that is not even considerable for acceptance? Why even allow someone with an in-prog class apply if it will lower their score that much?

And then they dont count med experience at all, for an advanced medical program. That makes no sense either... Arguably, i am among the best candidates for this program, and the in progress class (which i have 3 perfect 100% tests in) is counted as a C.. Smh..

I am a medic. I am a paid tutor of physiology, anatomy, biology, and chemistry at my college... Scored 91.3% on my TEAS.. I have a 4.0 gpa.. I have resuscitated people having heart attacks...

That is a ridiculous way to rank applicants...

Yeah I'm pretty upset about not getting in for the fall too, but that's life. I'm just going to reapply for the Spring of 2015. I guess one upside to it is that when we graduate, we will get our license months sooner than we would if we were graduating with everyone else because not many people are trying to get their license during the time we would graduate. You will get accepted for sure in the Spring of 2015, reapply! I dont think they should allow you to apply with a course in progress either. It's almost impossible to get in now with a course in progress with how competitive it is unless you have 100% on everything else. I also think they should give the teas exam more points than the pre req gpa because its a standardized exam and everyone takes the same exam, so i think it gives a better look at the candidate; whereas, yes, everyone takes the same science courses, but their grade depends on many different factors.

Congrats to everyone who got called for an interview! Anyone else in 1:00 Group B? I'm not quite sure what my score is because I have an in-progress prerequisite. If you call the nursing department, will they give you your score over the phone?

Congrats everyone who got in! Does anyone know if they will be accepting Spring transfers?

I'm pretty sure they are going to. I'll be suuuuuper upset if they dont! Are you going to reapply Vee89?

I am also in Group B at 11 am!

Yes I am. I really hope they do accept transfers!

Yes I am. I really hope they do accept transfers!

Same here, Do you have a course in progress?

I'm going to reapply for spring 2015 as well. My score is going to be 9.31 , do you guys think I should retake the teas test to increase my score or I would be fine with this score for spring ? I think the spring application pool is not as competitive as fall ( I know that for spring 2014 someone with score of 9 got accepted into the program ) ☺️

I think you're most likely going to be safe. Remember that for the Spring of 2013, they didnt accept transfers, so it wasnt as competitive, however for the years before that, the cutoff was still in the high 8's. Does anyone know if they accepted transfers for Spring of 2014? It is only getting more and more competitive, so I guess it wouldnt hurt to take it again and get a better score to be on the safe side. What did you get the first time?

For the spring 2014 they did accept transfers because I know someone who was transfer study and got accepted. Also I think we should email them and make sure if they accost transfer students . Do you kno If any other school accepts spring applications ? I've taken the teas test two times . Th first time I got 69 and the second time 82 . My reading part sucks. I can't increase the reading part score because English is my second language it's hard for me to do the reading part well .

Sorry, There are some typo mistakes in my last comment.

Oh okay, then I hope they will accept transfers for spring of 2015. I will call and ask them tomorrow. I'm not sure about other schools, I'm actually only looking into CSULB, but if you look at other schools websites, it should have some more information on them. Wow good job on increasing your score the second time. If you could study as much as possible and try to get something higher, that would be good for you. But your score seems pretty high enough to get in for the Spring. Yeah I know, its hard to do good on the reading if English is a second language. I myself actually scored the lowest in the grammar section and English is my first language, so I am sure it was hard for you. It's upto you though if you want to try to take it again. I guess it wouldnt hurt?
