csuf or csulb or jc program

Published

Hello All!

I'm currently a generic pre-nursing student at csuf. Does anyone know anything about the generic undergrad RN-BSN program here? I went to the info session and it made me even more confused. Supposedly its REALLY new and starts officially fall 2008...and its REALLY impacted (big surprise)...and they only accept 40 applicants ONCE a year-no waiting list YET...as opposed to the el-msn program which takes 60.

Well anyways...My predicament has me pretty lost. i'm pretty much done with anatomy and my organic chem. All i have left are microbio and physiology coming spring 08. i've finished all my pre-reqs in speech, english, critical thinking, college algebra with all A's...except math...c+ there. I'm looking at a b in both anatomy and organic chem. oh and im taking the teas next month.

I've been considering csulb because they're more established and MAYBE my chances would be better. ALSO! if that doesn't work out...i wanted to try saddleback or sac. which programs do you recommend preferrably in the orange county/LA area?

thanks a million for reading!

(can you tell all the couselors i try to visit are always out to lunch or have checked out for the day?) hahaha

Hello :)

I just got accepted to CSULB's nursing program for Spring.:balloons:

I would say apply to all options, especially those with waiting lists but CSULB is probably your best bet grade-wise because they accept 90 applicants out of about 300-400 people. (Those are actually nice odds)

You also need to take the TEAS test and score really high on that to make up for those B's. You should be able to find info for when that test is on both CSULB and CSUF nursing websites.

When it's application time, you actually need to apply twice.

1) for the cal state, via assit.org

2) for the nursing program

They may have diff dates so keep that in mind.

You should request 2 transcripts for each school then (1 for nursing, and 1 for the school) and send for any GE certification if possible. Then deliver that all to the appropriate dept.

I believe you keep the transcripts with your application packet for nursing.

I am from a JC so I dont know how the sending out for transcripts works.

Also, if you take the TEAS test at one school, say CSULB for example, you must request TEAS test "transcripts" for CSUF too, and give that to them with the application.

I hope that helps, I tried to remember everything I had to do for applying. Good luck with everything, and just so you know, I got in with Phys counting as a C, cuz it's in progress. So there is definately some wiggle room with grades at CSULB.

OOOOOOOH YEAH!

I just re read your post. If Micro and Phys are in progress, you cant apply for Fall unfortunately, because you can only have one science pre req in progress upon applying. Im pretty sure thats the case but feel free to confirm with a counselor (I know what you mean, they never give you straight answers hehe)
