Creating a resume

I am getting ready to graduate in 8 weeks:nurse: and need to work on creating my resume. Granted, I still need to sit the NCLEX-PN, but I want to be prepared. I am also hoping to pick up a few home care shifts until I am licensed.

I have heard a functional resume would better suit my needs. Although I have worked in various home care situations over the years, my primary employment has been in administrative work, such as bookkeeping, office manager and so forth.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in finding a template for a LVN/LPN resume; or give me a few ideas for creating a resume? Thank you!

I found reference books on resumes in the library and at the major bookstores. There are even some that are devoted to healthcare with plenty of examples, although most examples are not about nurses. We had to create an actual/(made up) resume as an assignment in one of my nrsg school classes. That assignment formed the bulk of my first nrsg resume; I've worked on it ever since. My problem has been mixed type of jobs like you describe. I downplay the non-nrsg jobs if I am listing them on a job application and now that I've got some nrsg experience, usually leave them off my resume altogether. I am not sure we are going to have a resume writing session, but I may just mention it to the administrator of the school.
