Creating A Great Protocol

Nurses Activism

I am a new CWOCN and the first and only at my facility. I feel a tremendous responsibility to get things right from the start. I collaborated to create my job description and revamp existing skin/wound prevention protocols, but I now have undertaken the privilege to draft a prevention protocol for the pediatric population. Does anyone know where to find information on how to create specific protocols? I may be making this harder than it needs to be but I so want to get this right. Is it bad ediqutte to ask to see what others have written and what they are doing?

In my view we practice based upon evidence, so it would make sense that you would START with a review of best practices across your region and the country.

Good luck.
