Cpap question

Can a child on Cpap continously without breaks, manage bottle feeds or does it risk aspiration etc? Are tube feeds the norm on CPAP?

Thank you in advance

I never PO feed a baby who is on CPAP or on Vapotherm/Fisher Paykel of over 4 liters per minute. For one thing, the airflow with those devices can really increase the chance for aspiration. For another, any baby that is needing that level of respiratory support should not be stressed with PO feedings.

We only gavage feed CPAP babies, they're too fragile to be bottle fed.
