you want to make it brief, and basically hit the highlights from your resume. a recruiter looking at the cover letter should be able to decide whether you're worth interviewing, even before looking at your resume. sell yourself.

as a kentucky registered nurse applicant, i offer the following:

- ky provisional license with nclex "pass" status.

- 19 years experience as an emt & paramedic (acls/bls certified). served as ems captain, where i helped mentor new members of our fire department.

- experience in an industrial environment, auditing & training team members on corporate safety policies.

- graduate of the university of cincinnati accelerated pathway bsn program with precepted role transition in university hospital's surgical icu.

- developed a 13+ page accelerated pathway student orientation packet which is currently used by the uc college of nursing.

- member of sigma theta tau nursing honor society with a 3.95 gpa.

- 22-year chemical engineering career in product development, customer technical service, and management.

- excellent references.
