COTC OR CSCC ?

I am an Lpn I apply for cscc bridge program in nov for cscc bridge program in 2013. I graduated from cscc Lpn program. I was gnna do cotc, but my friend sd she didn't here good things about their program. What they were I don't know. I don't think they were fully accredited or something like that. But check into it. I'm sticking with cscc they are known for having an excellent nursing program and a lot of employers love cscc. I know my job does. I work for nationwide children's hospital.

I have admissions to the CSCC RN program starting Spring 2013 and also to the COTC program starting this Summer. Can any one advice me why they would choose one program over the other ? Thanks.

I know several friends of mine who have either graduated with their RN from cscc or are going there currently, and they seem to enjoy/have enjoyed it. One who recently graduated also has interviews already! I looked into cotc for nursing but not cscc yet. I feel either would be a good choice, although if cotc is not fully qualified that does sound iffy. I'd keep in mind the area-cotc is out by osu newark and is definitely less busy than cscc in the middle of columbus. Hope this helped a little

Personally, I'd pick CSCC over COTC simply because you can start sooner :)

Whichever you pick, plan to start a RN-BSN program immediately after graduation. The OSU James Cancer Hospital is strictly BSN only and the rest of the hospital along with Nationwide Children's Hospital will hire you if you are enrolled in a RN-BSN program (and with networking, they will hire you if you make a commitment to get it within 5 years).

Thanks a lot for your insight foreverlaur, i have actually been following a lot of your posts and they have been very helpful. I have now started at COTC and so far things seem to be going well. I was looking at the MSN program at OSU once i have graduated because i already have a bachelors in another field.

That's what I'm doing as well. I work at OSU now so I'm hoping to stay employed there so I don't have to pay for it :) I don't see the point to spend at least a year doing a RN-BSN program then 2 years doing a MSN when I can just get the MSN...

Yes, I know. It took me a solid 4 years to get in and I had to spend a year doing a job I hated, but it was worth it. Good luck to you as well.

What are you talking about? COTC is fully accredited! People really need to do their research for stating things that could discourage a person from pursuing nursing opportunities.

COTC is listed on the Ohio State Board of Nursing as an approved and accredited college for RN and LPN Programs. Check here: http://www.nursing.ohio.gov/PDFS/education/RN_Programs7-27-12.pdf

They are also listed as a member of National League For Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC). You can check that information here: www.nlnac.org

Also, another person stated they can start sooner at cscc? Not true. They have a wait list that is first come, first serve. You can call them to inquire or look at their website for further information. COTC is a competitive based program that accepts applications a couple of times a year.
