COT graduation

Published

for cot graduation is it just the last day of the actual graduation that family can come on base and tour and what not? just curious what the proceedings are...also, is there a decent hotel in the area for family- any recommendations? my mother is wanting to come down april 9th and stay the night of graduation. is that what most family members typically do or does it just depend? i know this may be a bit early to figure out but if a hotel room is needed then the reservation should probably be made soon.

Family do the base tour on the Thursday before, and the Dining Out (the formal military dinner) is that night (which you are required to attend). Graduation is Friday. There are a few decent hotels in Montgomery (emphasis on few); I would get on hotels.com and find one that way (that's what my husband and mother did). We Google Mapped them from Maxwell to get one that was close.

My husband stayed at the Doubletree which was right down the street from base and is near all the "downtown" stuff. He said it was a nice hotel. I don't recall anything being within walking distance, but even if there was, you definitely wouldn't want you family members to stay there. The area right outside the base is not so nice.

Greek is completely correct. It might have been the Doubletree that we were at - truthfully I can't remember, but downtown isn't far from base at all. I was actually surprised at how small Montgomery really is!

on a different subject, i bought almost all my uniforms already and the blues pants/skirt have been tailored length wise but are definitely too wide(and one pair of the pants is slightly shorter than the other pair which is driving me mad). is that fixable and would taking these to maxwell with me to be tailored more be a problem/hassle or would it be less stressful to drive back to the base near me and have them properly fitted before leaving? i know if i go back to the base i think they could be fixed for free and i'd probably have to pay more at maxwell... or option C, which i don't support, leave them as is until i get to my base? the last option i don't love because i don't want to look frumpy the whole time at cot and since i'll be in the ntp course i don't know if i'd have time for running around getting alterations. what do you think?

Mobro, go get them fixed now. It'll decrease your stress and worry.

they're wide through the hips, to be more specific- from the pockets down. the waist fits like a glove.

that's what i was thinking, midinphx. i just didn't know if the trip back to the base would be worth it especially if i could get it done at maxwell. perhaps i'll make a trip tomorrow so i can just go ahead and not worry about it anymore.

EVERYBODY'S pants are too wide at the hips - it's the way they're made. It's why we all hate them so much. My suggestion is to take care of them now, because I saw the disaster that was the tailoring at Maxwell. They ruined two of my flightmates' blues pants.

I'm lol at carolina's comment! Those pants are just hideous! Seriously, do pleats at the waist flatter anyone's figure??? A bunch of us were standing around on Monday laughing at how ill fitting they are. I've tried everything to make them look better but the bottom line is, nothing will. You are way ahead of the game by having your uniforms now. If base is a long drive I'd just save the trip and pay someone else to fix the tailoring.
