Cost of accelerated nursing programs

Published

I was excited to see a college near my former hometown JUST started an accelerated nursing program. I've been wanting to move back home, so I thought it would be a good opportunity -- then I learned the cost of the program (which runs 16 months) is $48,000!!!! I haven't looked at any other private programs, just SUNY and CUNY, and I know private is definitely more expensive, but does $48,000 seem like it's on the "****!!!!!" end? Or is that what a typical private program would cost?

I only looked at one private college and their tuition was close to $60,000. Which I found to be ridiculous! I am attending the University of South Florida and my tuition for the nursing portion of my BSN will be $14,000. I also did my pre-req's at a community college and tuition ran about $6000 for my AA. So it is up to you but if you have the grades to be competitive at a public university it could save you a great deal of money.

I know that at USF, the accelerated BSN for those with a bachelor's degree in another field is around $14,000 for Florida residents. ($215 per credit hour)

i just graduated in June from a 10 month accelerated ASN at Our Lady of the Lake College (private) in Louisiana. Cost me about 17k. The program has recently changed to a 16 mo BSN adding another semester. Should be in the neighborhood of 23k now.
