Continuing Education While Unemployed?

I truely feel lost, I recently graduated nursing school May 2013 and passed my NCLEX and have been seeking a job for about four months now with no luck. How do I go about keeping my license - meaning how do I continue education / class so I can renew my license? What website do I go to to find information and sign up? Thank you for your help, I feel very unorganized and have no direction becasue I am not in a hospital around fellow graduate nurses to ask this. Also any advice as far as job hunting is greatly appreciated!

Did you find anything out? I have same question.

I am confused about this continuing education thing too. I graduated August 2013 and took boards in September. I found out this past week that renewal is up for us in April already. Am I expected to have the 30 credit continuing education hours by April since I just graduated? I checked with my states board of nursing (SC) and I didn't say anything about newly licensed RNs just that 30 credit hours were needed.

Go your BON site and pull up the license renewal application. It will tell you clearly when if and what CEUs or other stuff you need when you reapply for your license. Best Western School also has CEUs online for most states, and list each state requirements to renew, but I would not bet my first born on a site other than your official BON.

Poster 1 seems to think that is she's not working she needs to be taking classes? Poster above, are you sure you need to renew your license so soon after graduation, or are you working on a temporary license that will be replaced with a permament license in April? Many states don't require CEUs on the initial renewal, since it's so soon after you graduated.

But back to poster 1: Some states do require a certain numbers of hours working on the clock to renew, and if you don't have them they then require CEUs as the alternative. But you also are barely out of school.

If in doubt read the BON website. Also, I've seen people in here that checked they did take the required CEUs, because some states don't ask for proof when you apply, but then later were audited and couldn't prove they did take those CEUs, and got themselves in a 'situation' with the BON.
