Contacted by Risk Manager

Today I received an email from the risk management department from my previous hospital job. I haven't worked at this hospital for 6-7 months. They didn't tell me why they were contacting me but said that the hospital lawyer may be contacting me, and if can interview me.  Do you guys have any advice for how I should proceed?  Should I wait to see if the hospital lawyers contact me?

If it were me, I would wait until I was contacted by the hospital's legal team.  Once they did, and I knew what the situation was, I would consider consulting an attorney to further explore my options.  And would contact my malpractice insurance carrier sooner, rather than later.  And, I wouldn't discuss this with anyone, other than my spouse, insurance carrier, and legal team.

Best wishes.

Hi,

I'm not sure if I want to talk to the hospital's legal team at all. I'm thinking I should just contact a lawyer right away. I don't have malpractice insurance. I honestly do not know what they would be contacting me about. Should I wait to see what they have to say or lawyer up before calling them back if they leave a message? Argh, I hate this.

I contacted lawyer and it they were just asking questions about a patient that I and several other nurses took care of. I could not remember anything about this patient and I told them whatever I put in chart is all I know. It turned out to be nothing.
