I was an oncology certified RN when I was diagnosed with RSD/CRPS of the neck, right arm & shoulder in Nov. 2006. I continued to work until Feb. 2008 when the RSD spread to my entire upper body and started affecting my heart and stomach. Since then I have been on SSDI. In Dec. I started IV ketamine infusions with very good results. I know it's very early in treatment but I am considering the possibility of returning to nursing. Just wondering if anyone else with chronic pain issues has been able to return to nursing? (BTW, I am off all narcotics.) Has anyone participated in the Ticket to Work program through SSDI? Has anyone participated in a Nurse Re-entry program? Do I reveal my disability to my future employer? How do I explain my 5 year absence from nursing? There is so much to consider...
