After years of thought and planning, I've got my heart set on going on for my Master's as an FNP. Because of my rural location, I'm more than 3 hours from any university, so I'm looking at online programs. My dream is to work in primary care in this area. So my question is, I'm working full time and have 2 little children at home. Am I being unrealistic? There's a good possiblility I can cut back on work hours, but just want to be forewarned about what I'm really getting myself into. I don't consider myself a "superwoman" but I really feel this is my calling.

Hi country mom,
I was in a similar situation, perhaps a bit more remote. I wound up doing a mostly-online program, all online the first year, the second and third year required monthly campus visits (an 8-hour drive). I worked full time up until the last year thanks to coworkers willing to adjust schedules. I also had three children at home. It was an adjustment for everyone and my house is still suffering from piles (of stuff) in places. So, no, you don't have to be a superhero... it would have helped tho.
Good luck!
