Hello to everyone
my name is Barbara, I'm new to this forum. I need some advice. I recently moved to Pa from fla. Where I just completed my nursing pre reqs at the ripe old age of 52. Had I stayed at my former school I would have signed a contract with one of the four local hospital districts who would pay for my education, in return I would work at one of the hospitals in the district for two years. A win win situation, I was hoping to find a similar program here in Pa but there doesn't seem to be one and to make matters worse jobs for new grads seem to be difficult to come by. I am feeling very discouraged. Should I consider another major?

In a word - "Yes". Nursing is very uncertain - most of the NE is experiencing a glut of nurses & a BSN is rapidly becoming the requirement for any acute care (hospital) job. Those pre-requisite classes can easily be applied to another degree program.
