i had another appointment with an advisor from OU today and after talking, i felt very discouraged. i am 47 with a previous BBA from OU, however, my college GPA was only a 2.86, so i have been working soooo hard to make As in all my science prereqs. even with a 4.0 in all the science courses, i can only raise my GPA to a little above a 3.0. i was hoping that maybe my age would make a little difference if they saw that the 2.8 was over 20 years ago, but my recent grades were much better, but she says they dont look at age. which means they wont know any of my history. i am just very discouraged that a 3.0 wont get me in. she said they had 400 applicants this jan. and only take about 120. i am applying to UCO, w hich is where i have taken my prereqs, and i am applying to rose state and probably oCCC. i was really wanting a BSN, so i could go on to NP, but i just dont know what to think. at 47, its not like i have several years to reapply. i am truly passionate about this career and have felt led this direction, but i am so frustrated, because there is only so much i can do about my GPA at this point.

We didn't really get to talk to anyone after we applied about getting in. No interviews, no face-face anything. Just GPA and those three little boxes you put text in on your app. Crazy, huh? Well, they don't just accept the top 120 w/ 4.0's I can assure you. I'm in the collaborative BSN (we take our first year at TCC with the same OU curriculum and same tests, just different teachers). Anyway, there were three people in our accepted class that had 2.8-ish GPA's. They DO look at your science GPA seperately in addition to your overall GPA. You should be hearing something mid or late april, good luck and if you have any other questions let me know! :)

Just get your RN from osu/okc and finish your bsn through uco. All the classes you take at OSU/OKC go into the bsn for uco so it's not like theres any time/money wasted. You can do it!
