college help

i have my associates degree in medical assistant but i went to a private college but i don't know if all my credits will transfer but that is not the question

the question is i have 2 years already done in the medical field but i am trying to get into nursing school or get my bachelors in nursing but my gpa is not as good as it should but because of girlfriend issues

so what i need to know is if anyone knows what i can do to get into nursing school without going to a community college to get my gpa up to a 3.0 or better

right now it is at a 2.87

does anyone know of any "boston massachusetts" colleges to go to or that i can get into with my current gpa

You could always apply & wait for their response. What were your grades for the core prereqs? If they weren't great, you may want to think about retaking them to get a higher grade & to better position your admissions standing.

Hopefully you get the girlfriend issue under control or learn to better handle it & not let it affect other things in your life. That isn't always possible, I know.

good luck!

Realistically, you cannot expect to enter nursing school with less than a 3.5 GPA. In my current class, no one had less than a 3.6 GPA, so you need to consider taking classes to bring up your GPC.

MA school is not equal to, or very similar in nature to Nursing school, although you do have the manual skill set. Your MA classes will not transfer to Nursing school, they will not exempt you from taking specific classes. You will need the appropriate A&P, as well as Microbiology.

My last piece of advice? You need to take responsibility for your poor GPA, and not blame it on your girlfriend.

My Dad DIED, and I maintained a 3.8 GPA, because I knew that I could control my education and my studying.

Nursing schools are very competitive to get into and everything needs to be solid your grades, recommendations, test scores, etc. If not all your pre-reqs are done I would start them and focus on getting that gpa up. When you enter a nursing program they require you to keep up your gpa for instance anything less than a B is considered failing in my program regardless of what is going on in your personal life. As far as programs go look at the Mass nursing website and look up schools in that area's websites and see what their requirements are.

Take some classes and take them seriously. Get good grades. get some expierence if you arnt using your MA degree, use it. The fact you have an associate degree gives you and advantage. People DO get in with the minimum GPA sometimes, but you need these other factors to make you look better. Find a college that takes experience into consideration. 2 year school in my area dont really, but the university does. Apply to the schools that ask for essays and interviews, and nail them. Oh, and if you havent already, ditch the girlfriend, and find your backbone. If your are going to get through a program like nursing, and be a good nurse, you have to man up, and you don't need some chick around whos going to hold you back, not support you.

I would suggest re-taking your core pre-req classes to raise your GPA. Ask yourself, how badly do you want to be a nurse? Because with a 2.6 or whatever it is, that's just not competitive enough to be considered.
