Mar 29, 201115 yr Anyone applied to College of the Desert for Fall 2011? Is this anyone else's 2nd time applying like me?
Apr 10, 201115 yr I applied also. correct me if I am wrong but is this a lottery based acceptance or is it a score system? It seems there is not that many students applying to this school. This is my first time applying.
Apr 12, 201115 yr Author It is lottery based, but they give preference to students that have 12 or more units at College of the desert. I think we'll hear back from them by the end of May.
Apr 14, 201115 yr There aren't many students that reply to COD (from what I have noticed.) That could be a bad/good thing.... where else did you apply?? I live in Temecula so it will be a commute for me. I applied to schools around (north, south, east) with an hour commute. The end of May is so long from now... crossing our fingers for the both of us.
Apr 14, 201115 yr Author I know, i've posted twice for this school and no students from there ever respond. I applied to RCC, Mt.Jac, San Bernandino Valley, and Mt. SAC. I really hope we both get in too, i hate the waiting around for the acceptance/denial letters
Apr 15, 201115 yr I agree with you no one really responds about COD. I applied too now just waiting:idea:... Good luck to the both of you:)
Apr 15, 201115 yr Author Thanks E2Nurse, good luck to you too, i hope we can all be there on orientation day. I can't wait either for a response from them as well.
Apr 16, 201115 yr Yes, I hope to see you in orientation also:) Did you apply for both regular and transition?
Apr 16, 201115 yr where do you guys stay? I live in Temecula so it will be a commute for me. Then again anywhere from Temecula will be a commute. E2NURSE- What is transition? I believe I applied to the regular program. Perris StudentRN- I applied to Cerritos, Grossmont, COD, Mira Costa and I am waiting for the deadlines for City College, Mt. SAC, and Palomar. I don't know what I will do if I don't get in this time around. I am also contemplating WEST COAT UNIVERSITY. Any advice or comments about this school is welcome.
Apr 16, 201115 yr I live in Hemet. I don't mind having to drive:) All I want is to get accepted:idea: The transition is LVN to RN program. As for West Coast I actually went there for a couple months but, it was too expensive I had no other choice but to go back to a community college. If you can afford it? I recommend it:up: Great teachers there:)
Apr 17, 201115 yr I can not afford it. I don't think any of the students there can since most require a co-signer for the second loan. Its just crazy what some people would do to get in a nursing program now a days. People including myself, because I am considering it after this year if I don't get in anywhere else and IF they get there WASC accreditation in Sept.
Apr 20, 201115 yr I know people are pretty desperate to become registered nurses. I rem. when I was in the program there in 2009 there were people whom has 124,000 dollar loan to do the lvn to bsn program. That is a home loan....Way too much. I just pray that we all can get accepted into a program:)
Apr 20, 201115 yr Perris RN:I applied for fall 2011 and this is my second time applying just like you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of us that we get spots. Good luck to you all.To everyone: My cousin is currently in West coast University's RN program and she said they arent very organized there and it costs ALOT. like $120,000 ALOT and thats pretty steep.. I was starting to get desperate and then asked her about it.. then I changed my mind because I wasn't willing to pay that much money and besides I couldn't afford that anyway. I've also applied to other colleges for their RN programs: Riverside City (Community)College, San Bernardino Valley college (I wasn't accepted but I'm on their waiting list #259 haha wowww), and West hills college in Lemoore, CA, and College of the seqouias. I'm still awaiting to hear back from these schools. Question: Does anyone know when we will be hearing back from COD? Just getting a little anxious.. the waiting period is the hardest :-/ Good luck ladies :-)
