CNO Non-practicing class issues!

Published

Hi, I am desparately looking for other CNO members who have recently been sent the declaration of non-practicing class paperwork. I've searched online and can only find the issues presented by nurses who work in the US and live in Canada. I am wondering about the 11,000 nurses in total who were sent this information and are being forced to declare non-practicing class status and essentially give up their nursing registration. Surely there are others in my position (not working, raising children) who do not want to have to go through the entire reinstatement process (not to mention the cost) when they do return to work?

Oh my goodness! Is this a new development for y'all? Does this mean that you have to provide evidence that you're employed as a nurse to renew your license? Is there a minimum number of hours per year? How awful! What 'problem' was this intended to solve???

That sucks! Its probable a ploy for more money. By requiring you to go into a non active status, you have to pay more to reinstate and they make more money.
