i just found out that my job is ending in a few months. :o i am trying to do something positive with the change and redirect myself into the field that i want to be in. i am wanting to go to a surgical pa program when i finish my bachelors degree, but that is a few years off. one of the requirements of pa school is having hundreds of hours of direct patient care. i am looking for a cna or pct training program that i can do so that i can begin working in a hospital. i have called the red cross for my state, but they don't have anything available. any ideas? thanks.

Try a local community college, home health agency, or nursing home. Some nursing homes and home health agencies will pay you to take CNA training if you commit to working for them for a given amount of time. Even if those setting are not your immediate preference you can use the experience to get a position in a hospital. Community colleges, at least in my area (midwest) often have a CNA course available but you have to pay tuition.

Good luck!
