Has anyone taken a CNA II class? What does it entail? How was it? Does it help you any if going into the RN program?

I'm in CNA 1 in NC and my instructor also does CNA 2. I also posted a sim question about a month ago (its around here somewhere lol :) CNA2 you have to have some cna1 exp, its fewer hours then CNA1 and basically you get to do more technical stuff with catheters tubes ect and the money is a little better but not a whole lot. If you want to work in an ER its a good way to go. :)

Hey... I'm from NC originally, but have lived in Oregon for years now. I'm a CNA here and just took the CNA2 test in Oregon. I did the Acute care CNA2.

Here there are 3 types of CNA2

  1. Restorative care--- mostly LTC stuff, working with CVA patients, rehabilitation
  2. Dementia care--- working almost exclusively with Alzheimer patients
  3. Acute care--- advanced CNA work, primarily for hospitals (suction, advanced stoma care, more cath. care, lots of intubation knowledge, more terminology, deeper understanding of symptoms, CPM devices, etc)

My pay went up just a little with CNA2 certification... and most hospitals require it as a condition for hiring.

Good luck with what you're doing.... Dunno if this helps...

Interesting. I can't find nything aout a CNA II in Florida, training wise that is.

Florida does not have a CNA II. We only have CNA. If you get a job in a hospital they will teach you alot of things that Shawbunny has listed under Acute Care. In Fl you only (by law) have to be certified to work in LTC but most hospitals will not hire you without it
