I just recently started working as a cna in the icu while I’m in nursing school. I’m the first cna in this icu because it’s just always been nurses. I kinda feel like my job is irrelevant. Advice on how to make things better?

When I had just started nursing school, I too was a nursing assistant in an ICU. I felt the same way in the beginning because I was not allowed to do much with the patients without the RN. After some time of working there, I learned a lot of what was expected so I could prepare things before I was asked. Being available for the RN’s to assist them is important as well as making sure everything is always restocked! Take full advantage of being in the ICU & be eager for information, the RN’s, Residents, & doctors will be receptive to you! I was able to sit in the rooms for multiple procedures! Best decision I ever made during nursing school! Good luck ?
