CNA class, what it entails??

I just started my PCA (patient care assistant) course at Palm Beach State College here in FL. We do have desks and chairs. and a class size of 18. I like my instructor so far and we read over our hand book and rules and dress code and what we will be doing during our three months.

My first course is Health Care Concepts (78 hours-ending the begining of Feb). We have a Health Care Concepts book we will be working out of. This course is most important beacuse it is also a course that LPN, RN's take. If you decide to jump into LPN or RN and you took this course in CNA the college can use it so you wont have to do it over- GET GOOD GRADES!

We are going to our clinicals in nursing homes and local hospitals-hands on patient care (last course).

We will take our CPR class during our first course.

I'm pretty nervous but excited also!

I started my CNA classes about a week ago and I absolutely :redbeathe it! A lot of the course work is common sense but as you go through the skills like full patient bed bath, perennial care and so forth, it is a lot to remember. Just take lots of notes and you will be fine. We started off with basic patient care, nursing assistant scope of practice (what we are and aren't allowed to do), infection control and so forth. This week we are on to our CPR certifications, skills practice, charting, etc. It all depends on the school you are attending and their curriculum.

I was so nervous when I walked into the class the first day, but I am, like I said :redbeatheing it! I cannot wait to start the clinical part of the course, I am sure it's going to be very different from working on a dummy!
