Does any one know of a clinical refresher class that's available anywhere without being enrolled in a university? I've done a classroom refresher last year through APEA but one of the BON wants me to do a clinical refresher as well. Any ideas/suggestions????

Wow, that's a hard one. This has liability issues for the hosting facility, as well as the expense of instruction & precepting. Our Clinical Risk Management folks would never allow it. We don't even host 'one off' clinicals for students who are doing non-traditional programs.

Try your local community college or adult learning center. Both of these often have career builder/refresher courses that don't require you enroll in a university. My local CC offers such a refresher course, with clinicals at one of the local hospitals. The only requirment is that you have an active RN license.
And even if you did have to enroll in the commuinity college to take this course, the enrollment/admission process is usually quick and simple. When I started taking pre-reqs for nursing school, I had to enroll in my local CC as a student. I went in on Monday to fill out the paperwork, and received my acceptance letter by Thursday.
Well they want the college/university to offer a APRN program in order to do the refresher. All of the refresher classes I've found so far are for RNs. That's why I am trying to see if there is one in another state.
