Hello everyone, I am trying to make a decision on finishing up my LPN or just starting ADN. Ok, here it is, I started my core classes for LPN and finished all. Applied for selection in Fall for spring selection but did not get in. I spoke with the director of nursing and he thinks that I should apply again for summer selection but my GPA 3.2 and I didn't score so well on the psb exam. My question is, my goal is to be an RN but I wanted to take the steps before just jumping into RN school. I'm a medical assistant and have experience in the medical field. Do you all think I should wait it out and apply for summer selection or just sign up for the ADN? I've looked at some colleges and I think it will take about the same amount of time to finish. Someone please help because I don't want to keep waiting when that time could be used to start classes.

You should consider retaking some of your prerequisites and the psb to bring up your GPA and scores. 3.2 gpa is low to be competitive for most nursing schools, and especially for RN programs. ( at least it is in GA!) On the positive note, if you were to get into a LPN program, it seems that your chances of getting accepted into a LPN to RN program tends to be a bit better, but you'd still want at least a 3.4 or higher and a better score on the entrance exam.
Good luck to you but I would definitely suggest bringing your GPA up before you keep applying to programs.

The first order of business is to boost your GPA and test scores to transform yourself into a more competitive applicant. Good luck to you!

Boost your GPA & get into an RN program. I'm kicking myself for not getting my RN first & for not bridging sooner.
