Choices of work

I been lvn since 2015. Worked only in assisted living and Homecare. I tried working in skilled nursing facility but it's too much. No decent meal I can't even use bathroom when I have to. What other nursing job that I can do besides working home health, nursing facility or Homecare. In a way I don't like working clinics. I only like one on one but also comes with more liability. I'm stuck. Any thought ?

Gee, that's a tough one, Marlene.

Having experience in several areas of nursing including HH and SNF, I found each had their benefits. Like you, I enjoyed the 1:1 of HH, and felt overwhelmed in SNF, so I chose to work the MN shift which was a slower pace and there was more time for each resident. However, the MN shift comes with limitations in one's personal life.

As an LPN, I worked psych, surgery, and chemical dependency before I got my RN, and found assets and liabilities in each.

The last 17 years of my career, I worked primarily in geriatric psych and found it very satisfying, utilizing skills from both my medical and psych experience. Geriatric patients typically have comorbid conditions which keeps our medical skills honed with meds, IVs, urinary catherization, tube feedings, dressing changes, etc.

Good luck, Marlene!
