CHN vs. CDN

Just had a couple of questions:

the exam offered by the BONENT "CHN", how is it different from the exam offered by NNCC "CDN" and by difference I mean:

level of difficulty between the two

time needed to study for the exams

exam preparation materials, i.e. study guides, etc. (are they different or the same?)

if you had to choose between the two, which would you choose and why??

I have spoke with both examiners corp's, and have investigated the websites thoroughly, but am still confused as to which would be the best one to take. I have worked on an oncolgy/ESRD unit for about 3 years, and have felt the need to get certified in something both for professional and personal reasons.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

From what I heard CHN from BONNET once expired, you need to retake the test everytime. While the CDN from NNCC once expired, you only need to have CEU's in order to renew. I took the CNN though from NNCC.:)

Thank you nurse dandy for your reply!

How was the CNN test?

For some reason I am leaning more towards the BONENT "CHN" exam, but still not fully sure.

You are welcome! It was a 200 items exam with 4 hrs time limit. I would say mine was a difficult and a tricky one. It all depends on what test set you get. I think? Use the core curriculum of nephrology from ANNA and you will do good.

If your only into dialysis CHN or CDN would be good but if you are into or planning of moving to Transplant unit, PD or Renal Unit, i would go for CNN as my certification.:twocents:

I am really looking for someone that has takent the CHN exam
