I am going to be going to nursing shcool in Chicago starting fall of 2008. I have started thinking about going to one of the city colleges and was wondering if anyone knows how long the wiat list is??? Also I will be an LNA when I move and was wondering if anyone knows how much money they can make an hour????

From a community college standpoint - are you going to live in Chicago City limits? If so, then your community college is Chicago City Colleges - which I know has a wait list for RN program. If you are outside of the city - there are other schools - College of DuPage in DuPage county (west suburbs) and they have a waitlist and give pref. do DuPage Co. residents. Harper College (northwestern suburbs) listed as one of the best community colleges in the state (maybe nation) and they have a wait as well... then there is Oakton Community college (cook county - northwest suburbs) - I am not sure...Joliet Junior College (southern Suburbs) and not sure about there... and I am sure a whole lot of others that I just cannot think of.
I would suggest trying to look up on line some of these schools requirements, see what you have already met, and then decide where to go based on how much time it may take you - and maybe call the school about how long/challenging the list is to get in.
Good luck!!
yeap it will probably be the Chicago City Colleges. I have almost all of the requirements. i've tried reading their site and I cant find the wiat list. In high school my junior year I had a 4.2 for my GPA, I've also been taking college classes and I have a 3.65 GPA there. I got a 23 on my ACT(up I'm retaking it). I've tried emailing them but I never get anything back
I have gone to the Chicago City Colleges for my pre-reqs and I must say I was not too happy with the service that I got there. In fact, I could not wait to stop going there.
I am not sure where to tell you to call - but not all of the CCC sites have an RN program, only some... so you may want to see if you can see which one has the program.
Another thing - some of the colleges are not in the best/safest locations...
Ya i Picked the two best locations; Richard Daley and Harry Truman...my friend said the otehrs I dont wnat to go to....I really just want to get my 2 year RN and be able to start working then go for my BSN.
sounds good. I live by truman - not the best there at night. I live very close to there. It is changing though. I have never been to Daily - I have been to Harold Washington in the heart of the loop and they do not have an RN program.
good luck to you!!!
