Charity LPN Program

Published

Would it be a waste of time if I applied towards the LPN program which starts in June of 07'. I was told there's 60 students accepted June of each year. I have all the pre-req's required to start, but I don't know how good my chances are. Someone please give some feedback on what may happen and what to consider. I've applied towards the RN program for Spring of "08, but I want something behind my belt sooner.

It all depends on what you really want to do. Do you want to become an LPN or an RN? I can most likely guess that your chances are very good getting into either program but if I were you, I would try to apply for early admission (fall 07) with the RN program. The thing is this... I know that you are anxious to get into a program (any program) but if your ultimate goal is RN then it is better to wait out the 6 months (june 07 to jan08) to go directly into the RN program than to go through the LPN program for 14/15 months and then have to go back through the LPN to RN bridge for another year and a half, and once you are an LPN, I think you have to have a certain amount of experience to get into the bridge program. If you want to be an LPN then by all means go ahead but don't make a rushed decision based on impatience because you will be sure to regret it. just my .02.

Thanks for the feedback. This post has helped with my decision on becoming an RN.

Glad I could be of help, and I sincerely wish you the best of luck.

P.S. don't forget to inquire about early admission. It can only help.

I'm kind of new to this, so I've been leaving messages with the admission office and I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone. If you have any information on early admission or how to go about the admissions process, please share.

Thanks again

Let me make some phone calls to see exactly who handles that and who you need to speak with directly. It's their lunch hour right now, so I'll try this afternoon and keep you posted.

Have you applied at all to nursing school? I think there is a box on your application that you can check that asks you if you would like to be considered for early admission.

Actually, I haven't applied. I was waiting to make my finally decision. I've been sitting on both the RN & LPN applications for a while, and filled out the RN appl yesterday. I plan on taking it to the school on Monday.

Just let them know you are applying for the Fall 2008 semester.
