Current LPN licensed in GA, haved worked hospice home health and hospice IPU for 5 years now, need a change. Have applied for numerous LPN positions, no positive feedback. All responses have stated that I need to have more "Medical Assistant" skills i.e., phlebotomy, ekg, lab, x-ray, insurance and medical billing. How do you get around roadblocks like these without having to pay out of pocket for continued education just to get a job? Where do I turn or who is it that I need to know? Tried to contact nursing school where I graduated and they said it would cost $$$ to change from one area of nursing to another. I don't believe that-there has to be a loophole somewhere. Please fellow LPN's let me know what you think. A change would certainly do me good. Maybe pediatrics, ortho-neuro, family med, even ER... anything to get out of my funk. I will continue to do hospice nursing just not full time. Thanks LPN family-your assistance is greatly appreciated!

I have the MA & medical billing experience and neither have helped me get an LVN job. At least not yet. Regardless, I would continue trying & applying. You never know what it will take for someone to give you a chance. If you do get an interview, sell yourself & make sure you emphasize your willingness to learn. That should help you. Best of luck to you..... :redpinkhe
