Most of you know that I was enrolled in an LPN program at MCI, due to start in August.
I've been doing a lot of thinking and I really want to be an RN, not a LPN. So....................................
I dropped the program and decided to go to Tidewater Community College for their ASN program instead. I'm so much happier now. :rotfl:
I knew that I wanted to be a RN from the start but didn't want to have to be in school for 3 or 4 years (with prereq's). So I settled on an extreemly expensive LPN progam, $19,000. As soon as I finished with it I was going to do the bridge program there (no prereq's), which cost another $25,000.
I must have been completely CRAZY! What was I thinking??
I start my prereq's at TCC in Aug and will be finished with them in 2 semesters. So I should be in the RN program next Fall, with no bad luck.
I'm going to be an RN. Whoo hoo:balloons: :balloons: :balloons: and the total cost is only going to be around 7 to 8 thousand, counting all my preq's and books. I still can't believe I almost put this off because of 7 extra classes. (and almost paid nearly 50 grand) Whats a little longer in school, it will be worth it in the end. Ya have to WORK for what you want right?
Did I mention I'm going to be a RN (can you tell how excited I am?)

Congrats on your decision!!! :balloons:
I've never quite understood why some people go thru to get LPNs and go straight into an LPN to RN program - seems like a waste of money IMHO. And since you wanted to be an RN to begin with, this is so great! Yeah, you'll have extra classes - 'cause you'll have a higher degree, you'll know more when you graduate, not to mention you'll make more! Sounds like you made a good choice. Good luck with getting accepted to the RN program next fall - keep us posted! I only have two more semesters until I have my prereqs finished too, so knock on wood, we'll be starting clinical classes at the same time! We'll have to start study groups and such for those of us all starting the same semester!
