CFCC LPN program vs Taylor College LPN program

I have noticed that there at least a couple of people here who are going to be attending the CFCC LPN program. I am just wondering if anyone here has ever looking into the Taylor College (it's in Belleview) LPN program and what anyone may be able to tell me about it.

Any and all info appreciated.:D

When I first started my nursing student career, I first was accepted into Taylor College. It used to be called Professional Health Training Academy. It was very expensive, like $13,000 for the LPN. At that time, they only had provisional approval from the BON. I ended up not going, because I decided to just go for the RN. The instructors seemed nice enough, but I just couldnt afford it at that time, and they didnt offer financial aid.

I have worked with several LPN's who graduated from there, and they have all said they were not nearly enough prepared for the field when they graduated. They also had to travel to other cities/counties do do thier clinical rotations. Things may have changed by now, since this was 2 years ago for me. One thing I know that hasnt changed is the price. It is alot more expensive than CFCC, but I guess if you cant get into CFCC then Taylor College is the way to go. I would check out CFCC first though. I have been told there is no waiting list now, I dont know how true that is. Good Luck to you!!

Thanks so much for your reply. :) I went to the information meeting at CFCC for both the LPN and the RN. I also looked at Taylor College's website and called them and they sent me some info in the mail. One thing I couldn't find on their site or in the information they sent was the price. I knew it would be expensive, but I didn't know how expensive. From what I can tell, they now participate in Financial aid now. However, I will definitely be depending on financial aid and will need for it to go as far as possible. CFCC will probably be my choice due to that alone. :)

Now I need to go make an appointment with the academic advisor for nursing at CFCC to help me in deciding whether to do LPN first or start plodding through the pre-reqs for RN. I need all the info I can get before I decide.

i looked into both colleges and decided to go with taylor. they both offer the same programs and cfcc's is a little cheaper however i went to their informaiton session and felt like i was just a number. the admissions people were rude and not very helpful and when i asked them questions they would just give me run-a-round answers. they also told me i had to complete all of these classes before i could even apply to their program!

when i went to taylor's info sessions i got all the informaiton i needed, price, ect and was also able to meet with the admissions rep and the lady in financail aid on the same day. they were a bit more then cfcc but they have a lot smaller classes. i got all the information i needed to apply to the progrm. you also dont need your gen ed's completed before applying, you take those in your first semester. i just recently graduated from there and have no regrets. i got a job right before i graduated with help from their placement dept working only 10 minutes from my house and i passed the nlclex on my first try. i am proud to have LPN after my name and happy to say i got it from Taylor College.

I have gone to information sessions at both CFCC and Taylor. CFCC is less expensive but they make it difficult to get started. I had a hard time meeting with an advisor, they required me to have my transcripts sent to them before they would meet with me. There was also a waiting list to get into CFCC. Taylor is more expensive but there is no waiting list. They now participate in financial aid and have turned out several graduating LPN's.

CF no longer has the LPN program. CF is transferring their LPN program to CTAE. If you are interested then look into the LPN program at CTAE. Taylor seems like the better program because the instructors seem more personable than the ones at CF. Not sure the requirements but you need to take the TABE for CF/CTAE. The TEAS is required for Taylor.

I went to Taylor College and found it to be very helpful as I was just changing careers. It was a challenging school where the instructors were kind and knew what they were talking about. When I needed assistance people were there to assist me even after class one of my instructors was always there. The President of the college Diana always made me feel like I was special and even at my old age I could still make it. Due to family issues I had to drop out but wanted to say thanks and recommend this school to everyone as it is top notch and the instructors and staff are first class!!!!
