I was wondering if certifications such as ACLS, PALS are acquired while in NS or after? Would you recommend getting them lets say, a semester before graduation to pump up the resume?
Also, what other certs should an RN get to make them more marketable for landing their first job?

I was also wondering the same thing Eddie. I will be graduating in May 2011, and applying for an RN to BSN program at a local university. I was thinking that having a few certifications under my belt would make my application look better, plus I am also interested in working in the NICU and could use certifications like NRP, PALS, STABLE, and ACLS.

The nursing program I am in required us to get ACLS certified. They offered the course and a whole day dedicated to the METI man and working through each role in a code blue. Pretty fun stuff =) The instructors have been saying that they hope to offer a PALS certification course next semester.
I really think that getting those certifications will make a resume look nicer and they are VERY informative! I personally think that it would be a good idea. Employers' point of view tends to be the more education the better =)
Thanks for the responses. I might look into a summer/winter break and start getting these certs a year or less before graduating. I guess it wont hurt =)
