I work as a CNS, and was trained as an NP.in addition to earning my CCRN, I want CNS certification. I've looked, and it seems that ANCC has retired the CNS Core test, but may still offer the adult course. If not, is there any other company that provides a course?

Can I ask why you would want CNS certification in addition to NP? ANCC is the only certifying body I know of for CNS. The adult health CNS is the new certification that replaced the old Adult Med-Surg CNS. The core CNS test is no longer being used.
Sure. I no longer desire to practice as an NP, when I left the NP world, I took on the role of CNS. I enjoy the job. But I will no longer be able to accumulate the hours needed for recertification as an NP. Unlike most states, mine does not require ANCC or AANP certification for practice as an NP. I am keeping my NP license, I worked hard for it.
Wow - thats funny. I'm a CNS who works in an NP role in a state where certification is required. With the consensus model coming around, will this affect your working as a CNS?
Since I can't take the FNP exam (per ANCC) because I didn't graduate from an FNP program, even though I hold both an adult and peds CNS and have done over 1200 hrs clinical post MSN, I would doubt you would be able to sit for the CNS exam??
I'm not trying to be discouraging, simply honestly curious. I know that even though I wont have the clinical hours for my peds recertification, I will now have to retest when its due...ugh.
Have you contacted ANCC? When I have emailed or called them in the past, they respond quickly. Please let me know how this goes.
That's a great idea, I'll let you know what they say
Thanks.
