CCRN

Hi all,

I have been an ER nurse for 2 years. I eventually want to work in ICU so I can go for my CRNA. In your opinion should I sit for my CEN or can I go ahead and get CCRN? I already have ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC. My decision is will a school like CEN or CCRN better, and will my work experience qualify me for the CCRN? (I've worked at a trauma III )

You have to have the requisite number of hours in an ICU - not ED - to be eligible. There's a lot more to ICU than crisis intervention & stabilization for transfer. Certifications are great, but they don't have any impact on CCRN eligibility. The application for the CCRN test requires your manager's attestation.
