CCRN Study Resources

Updated:   Published

Hello! I am a new grad ICU nurse and have been working for a little less than a year and a half....I would like to start studying for the CCRN but am not sure what resources to use since I'm still kind of new...any suggestions would be appreciated!

I suggest you do a search of the site, using "CCRN."  At the upper right of the page, click on the magnifying glass, then type in CCRN and click Search.  The search function will then display all the threads that contain CCRN, and from what I saw, many talked about study resources.  Good luck to you!

Hello.

I would like to know about the CCRN examination if medical-surgical nurses are also eligible to take the exam.

Currently, I'm working in the ICU but before that, I also worked in medical-surgical department as an RN for eight months.

Most of our patient's focus in MS is on the heart, kidneys, and lungs cases. I handle patients on a Cardizem drip, status post-Cardiac Angiogram, status post-Cardiac Angioplasty, one-week postoperative CABG patients, patients with ongoing peritoneal dialysis, and patients with Uncontrolled Atrial Fibrillation attached on telemetry monitor.

I'm planning to take my CCRN exam by July 2024, and I would like to know if I can include my MS experience.

See if the hospital you work for will send you to a Critical Care Symposium (talk to the nurse educator for your unit) -- it is a great way to not only learn but network.  Book recommendations "Barrons Adult CCRN Exam" and "Critical Care Examination Review" by Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio & Joanne Noone
