everybody
Can I get some input/advice/suggestion from you? So here's the deal. I want to take some science courses online because I will soon be deploying to the Middle East. I want to finish up my Bachelors degree but need sciences (ap, micro, chem or human develop. doesnt matter) to finish it. I want to compare Edukan classes to CCConline classes. I know that its 114.00 a credit hour compared to 143.00 a credit hour but I want to know more about quality more than cost as in best teachers/courses. Which one do YOU prefer? What would you suggest me taking CCConline or Edukan? I can not attend a school to take the testing since I will be in the Middle East for almost 2 years but I can take tests/classes online with no problem because I am in the Army and am in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I have taken classes online at my home campus for 2 years now so distance learning is nothing new to me. I have a lap top and can take test online and study while I am here, on my off duty times (trust me theres NOTHING else I can do but be online, read magazine/books, or listen to music so theres NOTHING that can distract me but the occasional mortar rounds that hit the camp:uhoh3: ). Just wanted to know which program is better. Thanks for any reply's :thankya:

I am taking Micro from ccconline right now. I am happy with the class, However, if you will be out in the desert, it may be difficult to get the labs done. You need have to incubate microbes and create culture plates, etc. If you will have access to the proper facilities to do this, have at it. I have no experience with EduKan, however. I did take Chem and A & P I & II from www.iowacconline.com and the labs are virtual fro the most part. Ask the school you will be getting you BS from what they will accept.

I'm taking Intro to Chemistry (5 credits) with ccconline this semester. I really enjoy it and all the exams are online. There are a few at home labs that you do from a book, but they require everyday household stuff like food coloring and coffee filters, nothing major. My instructor, Paul Vorndam, also allows you to do 3 additional online labs for extra credit if it is needed.
Like I said, I enjoy ccconline.

I am taking A & P I with lab.
It is all done via computer and book.
The test and quizzes are done online.
I am pleased with them.

What school are you exactly talking about Melody?
I just registered with edukan (consortium of Kansas Community Colleges), and have talked to the teacher and the program, they actually have military personnel that are registered online with them and some are even deployed so I will definately be taking classes with them since they actually change some things for students that are deployed. Plus they are MUCH cheaper than ccconline. I talked to my university and they accept edukan courses for transfer, I didn't ask about ccconline but thats because once I heard that I didn't need to ask anything else.
I don't mind working with a college that knows that some things I can not do for reasons that I can't control so they change things like the online virtual lab, so thats cool. I will be starting the class in May. I hope I do good :)
