I'm 31, and have been a stay at home mom for the past 10 years, I never went to college after highschool. I enrolled at Clackamas Community college last week and am preparing for my placement test, brushing up on math that I haven't used in 15 years. I have hopes and dreams of becoming an RN and working in a local hospital someday, but I worry after hearing how competitive nursing school is.
After taking all of my prerequisites, what advice/information can you give me for ensuring I can get into the nursing school program at CCC? The advisor told me the outline of Year 1 prerequisites, Year 2 and 3 at CCC nursing school on Harmony, Year 4 at OHSU, then Bachelor's degree! Sounds pretty straight forward when it's put that way, but I keep seeing words like "wait lists" and "acceptance" and "applying to multiple schools", and I'm really worried that I'll take all of my prerequisite classes, and then be hung out to dry and not actually get into a nursing program.
Has anyone here completed the nursing program at CCC and help explain to me if there are any hoops to jump through, or things I should do in addition to trying to ace my prerequisite classes?
