Well it depends. How high is the blood pressure? Get a set a full vital signs. Obtain subjective data; their health history, what kind of medications are they on, family health history, activity, are they having chest pain/pressure/tighening/squezzing (this pain needs to be assesed, described by the patient), pain in jaw back, left or both arms, epigastric pain. Obtain a 12-lead EKG (you do not need an MD order for this). There are many things a nurse can do, but need more information about the patient.
