Well it depends. How high is the blood pressure? Get a set a full vital signs. Obtain subjective data; their health history, what kind of medications are they on, family health history, activity, are they having chest pain/pressure/tighening/squezzing (this pain needs to be assesed, described by the patient), pain in jaw back, left or both arms, epigastric pain. Obtain a 12-lead EKG (you do not need an MD order for this). There are many things a nurse can do, but need more information about the patient.

Forgive me, but this sounds alot like your homework assignment. One that you should be doing, and then asking us for input on what YOU'VE written.
