Hi -

I'm trying to find information about case management. I am currently a floor RN at a hospital and am looking for a job transfer. My director informed me about a case management job on a med/surg floor. I currently work tele. I am also looking at a job as a documentation specialists - dealing with coding & doctors. I just really need to change to a day shift position and get out of floor nursing. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Boy it looks like nobody answered your question... I am in Case Management in the hospital setting. You might read my post on the sticky thread "roll Call" which I just posted... don't know why it took me so long to find this part of the site. But this is a wonderful career. I hope you had a chance to interview for the position. I recommend certification, so you will have to work some hours before you can test for that. ACMA is the organization for hospital based case management--their cert is the ACM. The CCM cert is for general case managers, rehab, insurance, out in the community. I suppose you could go fot the CCM too if you wanted, but know that there will be questions about rehab, insurance stuff, Also lots of knowledge base required on Medicare/Medicaid regs, too, You can PM me if I haven't answered what you wanted to know.
