Hey all. New here. I'm pretty excited yet nervous because I start my pre-req on Wednesday! I will be taking Chemistry since I don't have a college level one.
I am currently a preschool teacher with an associates in education, but after lots of thought and life experience, nursing is the career path that I should have taken to begin with. It would be amazing to still remain in the area of children as well.
Is there anyone else that went to school for something else and then decided to pursue nursing?

Hi! I changed careers as well. I have a bachelors degree in criminal justice/psychology and worked at a previous job for 6 years. About 10 months ago I decided to make the switch! I completed all science prereqs in about 9 months and got accepted to Jefferson in Philly and start in May for a one yr accelerated program.

Hi there. I worked in education before pursuing a career in nursing as well. Have fun with your pre-req class and best of luck investigating/applying to nursing programs!!

I changed majors a few times before coming around to nursing. I was an English major my first go-round, and it really helped with all of those essays in nursing school! My language and business major times helped as well in other areas.

Hello! Yes, I'm in the same boat. I currently work in marketing and am taking prerequisites to apply for an ABSN program. My husband, a former EMT and a current PA student, actually inspired me! (If he could do it, so could I, lol!) Volunteering in the ED of a local hospital confirmed my choice as the right one for me. I know it's going to be a lot of work, but I'm looking forward to a challenge. Best of luck to you!!
Thanks! I wanted to work closely with preschoolers (before I had my own, ha!) and went for my degree in ECE. Now that I have more life experience, a child of my own, family/friends in the medical field, etc I've decided to go for RN.
Not to mention my pregnancy and birth experience.. that's a story in itself that has made me so thankful for the RNs that were there for me and my daughter.
