career advice

I have worked in the OR for a year. I commute 45 miles each way and have to stay in town when I have call. This is getting rough on my family and my husband wants me to find a job closer to home. The hospital near our home is small and only runs 2 OR rooms and doesn't have any openings. I love what I do, but the politics are a drag (no consistent leadership for over 3 years. lastest director and manager only lasted 6 months, etc..). Anyway, I have an interview for an ER job. I'm just worried that I'm giving up on working in the OR and I'm worried about making the transition from OR to ER, which is going to be a huge change. Just looking for some words of wisdom and advice. thanks.
