Hi everyone,
First off I'd like to give you all a little intro to my situation. I'm a second year student in my fourth semester at Langara, and I've applied and was waitlisted TWICE for Langara's Nursing Program. I've heard things about people in previous intakes applying with my gpa (3.4) and getting into the program, but this most recent intake I applied for (sep. 2016) the cutoff seems to be at 3.8 WITH a degree (which I don't have). I'm feeling a little discouraged at this point as I feel like I put all my eggs into one basket and didn't consider other options to apply to. I also never solidified a proper backup plan just in case I wasn't accepted. What would your advice me for someone like me who's a bit lost and not really sure what the best next step to take would be?
I've considered retaking all my courses and upgrading my GPA as best I can, completing prereqs for other places such as BCIT (I don't have volunteer experience, which I could work on during the summer), applying to a LPN program and bridging over to RN later in the future, or applying somewhere outside of the lower mainland (depending if I haven't already missed the fall intake deadlines). These are all options I've seen thrown out there from other AN users on different forums, but I was wondering if any of you are from my area and were in the same boat as me. I want to get into nursing school as soon as I possibly can, and I want to use the time I have as efficiently as possible!
I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys, thanks in advance! :)
